  22. Does anyone know of a way, outside of working through a sequencer like
  23. PowerChords Pro (et al.), to concatenate MIDI files?  DOS concatenation
  24. (copy file1+file2 file12) doesn't do the trick (only works for DOS files,
  25. presumably).  I suppose a short C or BASIC program to do it in binary
  26. would be needed, but I would be happier if one that works were already 
  27. around.  Midi thanks,   Emory Menefee.

  37. My GUs is hooked up to a Sy22 synth, my Sy22 is regretfully not GMidi, so the
  38. drum kit on the Synth is totally different from the GUS, so i've been having
  39. extreme difficulty trying to sequence drum tracks, firstly i use winjammer,
  40. when channel 10 is selected, the drums on the GUS dun play using the Midi thru
  41. only when i load patch manager then i can play it, however, if i switch back to
  42. winjammer, it's silent ! i tried the winjammer, update patch cache (or
  43. something) function, but still no go...

  45. i also tried the demo version of Cakewalk Pro 2.0, same story, am i doing
  46. anything wrong ?

  48. also the drums on the GUS seem to be one full octave below my keyboard, in
  49. other words, some of the keys are not reached by my keyboard... is there a way
  50. to shift the keys higher ?

  67. I downloaded the MPB and 2pat pograms. They are really great - especially
  68. the Patch Browser is indispensable for evrybody who wants to use multiple
  69. patch banks. I have a problem, though. On my system (I have a MIDI
  70. keyboard connected to the computer through a MPU 401 compatible interface)
  71. whenever I play a note on the keyboard, it gets sustained - probably the
  72. Note Off message is not recognized. Moreover, instead of Note Off I
  73. apparently get another Note On Message, since the note sounds again when I
  74. release the key. Does anybody else have that problem?

  91. There is a need for a "super-driver" to split MIDI output among devices.  At
  92. present, high-end programs like Cakewalk and Encore support two devices, but
  93. even that may be inadequate for some setups.  What I had in mind is a driver
  94. for Windows which resides "above" other drivers.  In the setup, you could
  95. assign channels to devices.  For example, if you have a GUS and an SCC-1 in
  96. your system, you actually have four output devices: the GUS synth, the SCC-1
  97. synth, the GUS port, and the SCC-1 port.  You could have a Yamaha DX-1 on
  98. the SCC-1 port and a drum machine on the GUS port.  To make best use of the
  99. setup, you might want channels 1-4 to go to the SCC-1 port, channels 5-9 to
  100. the GUS synth, channel 10 to the GUS port, and channels 11-16 to the SCC-1
  101. synth.

  103. It shouldn't be too tough as drivers go to split the midi data and dispatch
  104. it to the regular device driver, but it seems that no such driver exists.  I
  105. don't know if there are any problems I'm not aware of in this, but I'm sure
  106. that it would be a useful piece of software.  Any Windows developers
  107. interested?  Any problems I should know about?
